Shell Shockers – Essential Guide

Shell Shockers is Blue Wizard Digital’s free-to-play browser-based shooter – but with a twist – you and your friends are all eggs. While the game’s premise is simple, it’s one of the more deeper browser games out there, and is very similar to Valve’s Team Fortress 2, a very popular shooter from back in the day. There are some important things you need to know when playing Shell Shockers so in this guide, we go over it!

Premise

Shell Shockers is a first-person browser-based shooter except you and everyone else are eggs. Your goal? There really is none. It’s just silly fun with friends. You can make up objectives but there’s no real rules, or story either. So it basically serves as a fun, over-the-top goofy sandbox shooter, which is great.

Weapon Classes And Combat

Like Team Fortress 2, Shell Shockers’ weapons come from it’s classes. There are 6 classes in the game, with their official descriptions depicted below:

Crackshot | Bolt Action Sniper – One-shot stopping power

EggK-47 | The classic, high rate of fire, medium range, never jams

Free Ranger | Semi-automatic sniper, destroy from a distance

RPEGG | Small magazine, medium distance, big damage!

Scrambler | 2 Shots – Shotgun blasts do crtitical damage up close

Whipper | Large clip full of egg-cracking bullets. Close to medium range

Each one works best in different positions and under different circumstances, but if you want, you can simply press “E” on your keyboard to switch to a secondary weapon, that being a traditional pistol. You can also find grenades around the map. You can pick up 3 at a time, and you can press or hold down “Q” to release, depending on how far you want to toss it.

Cosmetics And Currency

You can purchase cosmetics with eggs. These eggs can be grinded out by playing the game or by purchase and can be used to purchase cosmetics. Here’s a list below:

Hats | Headgear that you can equip.

Skins | Skins can be used to customize the look of your guns, much like gun skins or wraps in other shooters.

Stamps | Stickers or logos that you can paste on top of your egg.

You can also change the color of your egg, and as far as customization goes, that’s about it!

Maps

Maps are the stages in Shell Shockers. There are way too many maps in the game, so I’ll record them all in a separate post. Certain weapons are best in certain areas, for example: Field and Shellville are good for Crackshot users, but maybe not Biohazard or Blue. Joining a random match sends you to an automatic map while creating a game has you choose from all the maps in the game!

Modes

Captula The Spatula | A gamemode where you hare divided into two teams and are fighting over a spatula.

Free For All | A gamemode where everyone is against each other.

Teams | A gamemode where everyone is divided into two teams.

The New Yolker

As a part of Shell Shockers, you can use your email address to sign up for the monthly New Yolker – A tongue-in-cheek parody of The New Yorker. Here, you can recieve updates about the game and a redeemable code to unlock a special cosmetic item. Read more here.
