Why Do People Dislike The Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 4 Battle Pass?

Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 4 is the current Battle Royale season at the moment, and unfortunately, many people do not like the Battle Pass. There are a few reasons as to why many people dislike this season’s Battle Pass, and in this guide, we go over the main reason. Keep in mind that these are all flaws that many find with the actual Pass, and they don’t effect you or the actual season. So without further ado, let’s get into it.

The reason as to why many dislike the current season of Fortnite: Battle Royale comes from the fact that it’s Marvel-themed. While millions of people, like me, enjoy Marvel media (Avengers: Endgame DID gross over $2 billion dollars), many don’t like Marvel. Imagine you’re a Fortnite fan who dislikes Marvel, eagerly waiting for Season 4 of Fortnite: Battle Royale. You’ll be quite disappointed if the next 3 months of Fortnite is just full of content you just don’t care about. And this isn’t like the Thanos, Avengers or X-Force cameos in the past, this is a whole season’s worth of content dedicated to Marvel, which, in this scenario, is a franchise you don’t give a dang about. Games will be full of people wearing Groot and Jennifer Walters outfits, complete with Iron Man gauntlets and Wolverine claws, running around Doom’s Domain, a Doctor Doom-themed remix of Pleasant Park. Constant reminders of Marvel will be plastered around your face, and you would most likely take a break until Season 5 began, which may or may not be collaborative-themed like Season 4.

The second reason is that a ton of cosmetics are locked behind certain outfits. What this means is that all the emotes in the Battle Pass are built-in to outfits, and so are some of the harvesting tools and gliders. This means that you can’t equip the Mjlnoir harvesting tool without wearing the Thor outfit, you can’t use the Doctor Doom cape back bling using any outfit other than Doctor Doom and you can’t use the Iron Man glider without the Tony Stark outfit equipped. Plus, a ton of the extra cosmetics here are arguably better than the original outfits, like Mystique or Doom’s emotes. Plus, this would make the Pass worthless to non-Marvel fans. If the cool cosmetics are locked behind ones based on characters they don’t care about at all, they’re going to skip out on the Battle Pass entirely, since there isn’t anything worth grinding for if you don’t like Marvel. I mean, it’s understandable that they’re superheroes and these are their “superpowers”, and it’s understandable that Marvel probably doesn’t want an axolotl wielding a hammer literally made for gods only, but the outrage against it is also very understandable. Part of the fun of Fortnite is customization, and mixing and matching outfits and cosmetics to make a wacky character. Do you want a military fish carrying his baby whilst riding a unicorn dragon? You sure can make that. Do you want a spaceman using a gnome to harvest items, racing on a nuclear missile? That you can do. This Battle Pass limits customization with cool accessories to strictly it’s original items, and to non-Marvel fans, that really sucks.
