Yes, this is not clickbait. Recon Expert MIGHT return to Fortnite: Battle Royale. The incredibly sought-after outfit last seen over 921 days ago is hinted to make a return to Fortnite: Battle Royale after over 12 long seasons. Here we will explain who Recon Expert is, how much she will cost and evidence about her potential return. Credit to Pro Game Guides for the outfit image.
Recon Expert is the rarest Fortnite outfit. Period. Of course, outside of Battle Pass outfits, Recon Expert had never seen the light of day outside of the season it came out in. She released on October 30, 2017 and was last seen on November 12, 2017. She became an icon along with Ghoul Trooper, Skull Trooper and more, however those two returned during Fortnitemares 2019 and 2018, respectively. So Recon Expert remained. She’s calculated to be the rarest outfit in the game, rarer than Rogue Agent, Midnight Ops or Far-Out Man. Every day for the past 800+ days, people have been joking about Recon Expert’s return. Until May 20.
According to the leaks, Recon Expert is coming back! In the latest update, 12.60, Recon Expert got an edit style to remove her signature hat for the people who already own her! Usually this is a hint as to a outfit’s return, however, in Season 8, Renegade Raider, a very rare outfit from the Season 1 Season Shop, got an edit style, but never ended up in the Item Shop, most likely because it was a season exclusive. More evidence shows that her appearance has changed. She went from a normal, straight pose to a more unique one. This happened to outfits such as Skull Trooper, Ghoul Trooper and more. Plus, Epic’s been re-releasing some rare items again recently, such as the Wild Card outfit and my child Highrise Assault Trooper, both were last seen over 400 days ago and returned in April and May 2020, respectively. All signs are pointing to her epic return, but only one question remains. When will she return?
Many people have predicted Recon Expert’s return as if it were predicting the second coming of Christ or the end of the world. There are four possible re-release dates:
- In a week (Most outfits with a leaked style usually return in a week)
- July 26, 2020 (Her 1,000 Day Anniversary)
- October 30, 2020 (3 Years Since Her Release)
- November 12, 2020 (3 Years Since She Was Last Seen)
They will also probably add some extra cosmetics and maybe even make like a “Recon” cosmetic set with a glider based off the star on her shirt, like the Aerial Assault One glider from the Season 1 Season Shop. She might even come with a back bling, because also in this patch, the Ravenpool and Cuddlepool outfits got back blings with them. Burnout, Bandolier, Ghoul Trooper, Skull Trooper, Merry Marauder, Ginger Gunner, Crackshot and Codename EL.F all came back with an additional back bling, so Epic might slap a back bling on her to attract customers who aren’t a fan of OG or old cosmetics.
We have evidence, predictions and leaks. But why? Why in the world would they bring back Recon Expert now? We still have 2 months until her 1000 day anniversary and 5-6 months until her 3-year anniversary. Perhaps Epic wants to do it so more people are attracted to the game. They feel like they’re losing players, and a rare cosmetic people have been begging for throughout 2 years returning might bring back a decent playerbase. It’s a very risky business move, but it’s a secret weapon.
Or, if we’re all wrong, the hat and leaks could just make her stand out more and she won’t come back. Her return does make some since though, but with such limited leaks it’s hard to determine anything. I probably won’t even buy her, but I’m excited. Maybe even more excited than Ghoul Trooper’s 2019 return, because that I expected.
Recon Expert has finally come back! No new back bling or any other item though.
